Dickinson's Natural Skin Care Tips

Healthy Eating

Discover the foods your skin can't live without

You are what you eat. So if you wonder why your skin looks greasy you may need to look no further than your dinner plate. Do you have healthy eating habits? You don't have to give up what you love - even we love pizza - but moderation is the key. Here are some simple healthy eating tips for healthier skin.

Improve Your Digestion

Good skin is reflective of a good digestive system.

Add the following to your diet to help rev up your system:

  • More Water – nourishes skin cells and eliminates waste.
  • Natural Fiber – women aged 19 to 50 need 25g a day, so eat more:
    • Unrefined whole grains
    • Apples (skin on)
    • Cauliflower
    • Beans or legumes (well rinsed)
    • Ground flaxseeds
    • High fiber snacks like nuts, seeds or dried fruit

Avoid Excess Sugar

Eating healthy means avoiding too much sugar. Excessive sugar consumption results in a process called glycation that over time can damage collagen in skin, cartilage and ligaments. It also promotes a loss of skin elasticity, causing skin to wrinkle and sag.

Try a gradual approach to reducing your sugar intake and you’ll be amazed at how easy healthy eating becomes!

Eat Good Fats

Our bodies cannot live without essential fatty acids. They are a part of healthy eating and also helpful for people with dry skin, acne, and eczema.
